  • 5 Creative Ideas for a Unique Wedding Ceremony Backdrop

Jade & Keiran’s wedding by Lost In Love Photography

Do you want to make your big day extra memorable? If so, then be sure to include a one-of-a-kind wedding ceremony backdrop, which will set the tone and mood for your event! Here are 5 ideas to inspire you:

    Enhance your venue.

While your wedding backdrop is the highlight of the ceremony, it should not deviate from the venue’s overall design. Try to keep the decor, flowers, and installations to a minimum in order to make sure that the people will focus on the natural elements of the venue.

    Use unusual spaces.

Think outside of the box. There may be a spot in your venue that isn’t usually used as a ceremony area but with a little creativity, can be turned into a gem. Look for lush green spaces and try to work with the management to set up your wedding ceremony backdrop in that particular area.

    Use unusual things.

Your wedding backdrop can be made unique by using items that aren’t normally utilized in nuptial ceremonies. Ask a rental company or two if they can provide you with some unusual materials for your backdrop.

    Mix and match.

Incorporate a mixture of textures and materials to establish a special wedding ceremony backdrop. But remember to stay within your colour palette to keep things in sync.

    Integrate your tradition.

You can create a stunning wedding backdrop and honour your family’s traditions at the same time. Make a bold focal point that emphasizes your culture and heritage. Not only will this design be a great photo background, but it is also a way to pay homage to what matters to you and your family.

    Personalized Face Masks

Who would’ve thought that masks could be so fashionable, right? One of the most timely wedding favour ideas today is about keeping your guests elegantly safe. So, give them washable and reusable face masks on your big day. Not only will these items protect them and others, but they can also be used multiple times!

    Custom Hand Sanitizer Bottles

Since last year, thoughts about safety have been one of the major wedding favour ideas. With that in mind, we suggest hand sanitisers for your guests, to use at the event itself and afterward. Don’t forget to add your initials or photos, or even your favourite scents.

    Individual Wine Stoppers

Wine is a symbol of celebration — and what better way to show your gratitude than giving your guests personalized wine stoppers? For sure, your family and friends will love the functionality of these unique wedding favours. They keep the wine air-tight, meaning it stays fresh, preserved, and tasty.

    Tea Towels

Do you want to give your guests something unexpected? If so, then go for personalized tea towels. Have a professional calligrapher decorate them with a sweet quote or your initials. Then, apply some creativity and incorporate the towels into your table design. This is one of the nicest wedding favour ideas that are easy to pull off.

    Customized Blankets

Want more ideas for unique wedding favours? How about special blankets? Should you tie the knot on a chilly day, you can keep your guests snug by providing individual fleece blankets. Be sure to add your exclusive design or your initials. These blankets will give your family and friends something to snuggle under when things get cold.

  • How To Elevate the Wedding Guest Experience

You have probably been to a couple of weddings where you experienced different emotions and treatments. Now, when you sit to plan your own special day, you must realize how important it is as the host to give the best wedding guest experience to the people attending it.

Here are five tips to help you elevate your atmosphere and make it relaxing and cheerful for your close ones. These tips will definitely make the experience unforgettable as well as enjoyable for everyone!

    1.      Don’t Let Them Get Bored!

One of the most effective wedding guest ideas is to have good communication and not to let anyone feel outcast. You can also do this by hosting different activities and chatting with your guests. This will make them feel involved, and well, who would not want to talk around with the main personalities of an event? After all, these are the moments where all the fun lies!

    2.      Get Creative with the Seating Arrangements

Arranging a proper and creative seating plan will help you know where everyone is seated and will also save your guests from getting into any chaos or confusion. Plus, it’ll also make everyone feel special by depicting that you have thought about all those who’re coming over. Now, of course, that’ll not be a lie when we say we love attention and love especially when it comes from the couple, isn’t it so?

    3.      Arrange Entertainment

Having a little fun hurts no one! In fact, consider what the majority of your guests prefer in entertainment and go for it. They’re definitely going to love the wedding guest experience at your wedding. Furthermore, arranging fun activities will be something they will never forget!

    4.      Spread Out Intimate or Customised Gifts

The best way to make anything memorable is to give a keepsake. You can get scented candles made with your friends’ names on them, or you can also write handwritten notes for your peers, making them all feel special and loved. Now, isn’t that one of the best wedding guest ideas you have in your pocket now?

    5.      Personalize a Gratitude Speech

There is no better way to give appreciation than a gratitude speech. You can simply thank everyone for joining you on your special day and how their presence meant a lot for you.

    Final Words

These are the top five tips that can help you make your wedding guest experience better and personalized. We wish you all the happiness and joy for the future!

  • How To Shop Online For Your Special Mother Of The Bride Dress

Your daughter’s wedding day is announced. She is ecstatically happy and cannot wait to shop for her wedding dress. However, you as the mother of the bride, may have doubts about finding your perfect mother of the bride dress.

After all, weren’t you the one who visited countless bridal shops, department stores, and boutiques, the last time so-and-so was getting married and could not find something to wear? What about this special occasion now? Your dress has to complement the color theme of the wedding and the chosen color is fuchsia and guess what, you look terrible in pink!

Fret no more. The internet revolution has been around for years and now almost everyone, including Grandmother Harriet, is really savvy in shopping online for anything and everything sold under the sun. You can be too!

If you or someone you know own a computer, and you can type “mother of the bride dress” in that search box, you have opened up a new world of shopping for yourself. Here are some quick and easy tips for shopping online:

    1. First of all, understand fabric types. Most special occasion dresses are made of chiffon, georgette, silk or man-made silk, organza, or crepe. You could visit a few local bridal shops to get an idea of the different types of fabrics, their quality, and texture.

    2. Understand colors. Hopefully, by now, you will know what “fuchsia” or “magenta” is. Most online stores will have color swatches posted online. However, please be aware those colors are not color true (looking at a color in natural light and close-up), as you are looking into a computer screen. See whether the internet store will send you color swatches in the mail or at least, send you another picture with a close indication of the color you are looking for.

    3. Know your approximate size beforehand but wait, do not use this size to order your dress as every manufacturer cuts their dresses according to their OWN size charts. Measure yourself first with a tape measure, your bust, waist, and hips, over your undergarments. Compare these numbers to the manufacturer’s size chart provided to get your best size. If you are between sizes, select the next size up as the rule is “easier to take in than to let out”.

    4. Have an idea what looks good on you and what do not, through previous buying experiences and you can make a sound decision basing on those experiences. If you have large hips, an A-line skirt is definitely flattering. If you have flabby arms, a long sleeve jacket is the way to go. A longer blouse or jacket, hides a problem stomach area, so on and so forth.

    5. Online stores stock a wide variety of styles, sizes, and colors and typically more so than the physical stores. Their prices are on the most part, reasonable. Check on the return policy as every store sets their own. Remember that you are shopping for a “special occasion” outfit and the return policy is usually more strict than for regular everyday clothing.

    6. Once you have found your perfect dream dress, you would have saved yourself a lot of time, hassle, and perhaps money as well. Online shopping could definitely be the best option for you from now on and not only for your mother of the bride dress!

  • How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Bands

The best course of action to take sometimes isn’t clear until you’ve listed and considered your alternatives. The following paragraphs should help clue you in to what the experts think is significant. So you want to seal the deal. You’ve already proposed, she has accepted. Now, it’s time to get down to business and make it official.

Aside from your vows, there’s nothing more that makes it official than the exchange offering of wedding bands. These are the rings that the bride and groom will be wearing forever, ’til death do us part! So it is important for the bride and groom to purchase a wedding band that they both like and feel good about. One thing that you should consider when buying a wedding band, is both the personal style of the future husband and wife.

This is a joint effort, so both parties should agree. It is essential that both are comfortable with the rings that they choose, because they’d be wearing these rings for a lifetime. There are a variety of wedding band to choose from, made from different materials. 14 karat white and yellow gold being still two of the most popular choices. A 14 karat gold wedding band is not entirely made of gold. It is mixed with an alloy of gold and other metals such as copper and silver.

Wedding bands also come in silver and platinum. Platinum is heavier than gold. It is considered to be the most precious of all metals. It makes for a beautiful wedding ring because of its stunning white metal that shines after it has been polished. Silver is not considered superior in quality. Silver metal tend to be very soft. Wedding bands made of silver are prone to discoloration. But they are very inexpensive. So those who are shopping on a budget might want to consider this as an option.

In choosing a wedding band, the thickness of the band must be considered, and whether the bride and groom would want a wedding band with a design, or just a plain set of wedding bands. You can see that there’s practical value in learning more about Perfect Wedding Bands. Can you think of ways to apply what’s been covered so far? Now, it is common for couples to choose the same wedding band.

Except, that the woman’s wedding band is slightly smaller. It is advisable for couples who are shopping for rings to visit a number of jewelry stores. This way, they’d have a wide selection to choose from. They could also compare prices. If you have any questions regarding the rings, you can always ask a professional jeweler to assist you.

He or she can also offer you an expert opinion when it comes to your selection. If couples chose to have an engraving in their rings, they should already have a dedication in mind. Also, they should be careful in choosing the type of engraving they will put in their wedding bands, because these engravings are lasting.

Most couples chose to have their initials brandished inside their wedding rings. While others chose symbols, or dedications as a gesture, or profession of their love and devotion to each other. Engravings are a wonderful thing, because they make the rings more meaningful and special. Ask your friends and family who are blissfully married to recommend some names of places where you can acquire the wedding bands of your dream.

If you cannot find a ready made ring that suits your style, you can always have them custom made. A lot of jeweler specialize in making wedding bands. Having your wedding bands made, actually is less expensive than purchasing in store wedding bands. The great thing about this is it also adds a personal touch to the ring selection process.

But in the end, it’s not really just about the rings, so couples should not stress over the whole ring selection process. Rather they should enjoy and relish this special time, when they are about to be made future husband and wife, and bonded for all eternity. There’s a lot to understand about Perfect Wedding Bands. We were able to provide you with some of the facts above, but there is still plenty more to write about in subsequent articles.

  • How To Make Your Own Wedding Favors

Everybody knows that a wedding is a costly event to organize. Gone are the days where the parents of the bride paid for the day in full.

Now it is common for those actually getting married to contribute to the costs and many people feel that they do not wish to begin their married lives in debt, courtesy of the wedding itself.

There are simple ways in which you can reduce the costs at a wedding without compromising on tradition, taste and quality. One of the easiest things to do at a lower price is the making of your own wedding favors.

These can be expensive if bought for all of your guests and making your own allows you to reduce this cost significantly. It also gives you the opportunity to personalise them to your color themes and the fact that they are handmade makes them more special for your guests to receive.

The first thing to do is to decide what to put in your favors. Most people choose to use pot pourri or confectionery in them. Once you have decided this it is important to gather all of the materials you will need together. The best place to make these is at a table where you have sufficient room to lay everything out but have it close to hand for when you need it.

You will need to decide on a color for your favors. This can be to match the décor of the room where they will be displayed or a color found in your bouquet or bridesmaid dresses. Then select an accent color to compliment this. For example, should you decide on yellow as your main color you may choose purple to compliment it.

You will need to purchase pre-cut wedding favor wraps. These can start at as little as $10 for 50. Then you simply place an amount of the filling in the centre, gather the wrap around it and tie the top with a small length of ribbon. The easiest way to do them quickly is to take your time making the first one and add or remove the filling until the amount is perfect.

Then try different lengths of ribbon until you have the one you like best. Once you have one favor which is exactly how you want it, dismantle it again. Keep the parts together and use them as a guide for all of the others.

Cut multiple pieces of ribbon, using the length of the completed favor to ensure it is the length you require. Planning a wedding can be stressful and making your own favors may seem like an additional burden. However, it is a great way of lowering costs. Why not get your bridesmaids round, open a bottle of wine (or two!) and between you they will all be made in no time.

  • Keep These Things In Mind When Planning Your Wedding Menu and Bar

Food brings us together and you can probably agree that one of the things you are looking forward to most on your wedding day is the reception dinner! It may feel daunting accurately determining how much each person will eat or drink.

If you’re unsure where to start, here is some food for thought when planning your menu and bar.

    Determine your menu style

Start by having an idea on the catering style you want to offer. Are you wanting a sit-down style, buffet, or heavy appetizers in place of a meal? While you are considering your menu options, also take into consideration the cost and how it fits into your budget (your caterer or planner can help you determine this.) While some think that substituting appetizers in place of a meal will be a more affordable option, it will often end up costing you more as you pay per item, not per person. If you have a tighter budget, a buffet option may be more suitable for as you are charged per head.

    Determine your bar style

Guests will be sure to head for the bar to kick off the cocktail hour post ceremony, but it’s important to determine what style of bar you want to offer. You’ve most likely heard of an open bar and this usually comes in two tiers:

    – Bar package (where you are charged per head based on the number of guests attending which covers all alcohol)

    – By consumption (where the bar keeps a tally of the drinks ordered and you pay for what has been consumed.)

The package is a great option if you expect consumption to be high, paying by consumption will keep your bill lower if you don’t expect guests to drink very much.

While there are other options, such as a cash bar (where guests foot the bill), we recommend not going this route as it puts the financial responsibility on your guests (although may be the best option if your food and drink budget is smaller!) There are many more options, so coordinate with your caterer to find the best one for you!

    So…how much?

The amount of food needed for your event will be determined by the catering staff dependent on your guest count, but how about appetizers?

Here’s a general rule to follow when it comes to determining how much to order:

    – 2-4 bites/person if appetizers are being served 30-60 minutes prior to the meal

    – 5-6 bites/person if appetizers are being served 2 hours prior to the meal

    – 12-15 biter/person if appetizers are being served in place of a meal Keep in mind that tray-passed appetizers will last longer than those that are displayed buffet style.

When it comes to consumption of drinks, a general rule to follow is your guests will most likely consume 2-3 drinks during cocktail hour and then 1 drink/hour following. We hope these tips help ease your mind and wallet when it comes to planning your food and drinks for your big day. Bon appetit!

  • How To Plan The Perfect Outdoor Wedding On A Budget

Budget concerns can be one of the most prominent sources of disagreement for a couple in the process of planning their wedding. The couple may have different ideas about what type of wedding they want and also about what they can afford. It is important for the couple to discuss financial constraints before the wedding planning goes too far.

The first tip for setting a budget and sticking to it is to have a conversation regarding finances well before the wedding planning starts in earnest. It is important that everyone involved in the decision making process of the wedding understand just how much money is available to be spent on the wedding.

Dressing appropriately for the conditions is also important if you plan to have an outdoor wedding. For example a strapless gown made of a lightweight fabric would not be appropriate for a fall or winter wedding if the temperatures are usually low at these times of the year. Likewise a dress with long sleeves and a high neck would not be appropriate for a summertime wedding in a warm climate. You will want to be comfortable on your wedding day so dress according to the weather.

Another tip for having an outdoor wedding is to plan your wedding for a time of year that is unlikely to have inclement weather. It’s important to give yourself the best possible chance of having good weather for your wedding. Try studying the weather history in the area that you plan to have your wedding and choose a time that has a relatively low chance of snow or rain.

In setting up for your outdoor wedding, one important tip is to set up the area where the ceremony will be held in a way that keeps the sun at the guests’ backs. For example, for a morning wedding, you will want to position the seating so that the guests are facing to the west. This is important because the sun rises in the east and having the guests facing to the east would result in the guests having to squint into the sun.

If you choose a summertime wedding in a warm climate, be sure to have plenty of drinks available for your guests. You might want to consider having refreshing beverages such as water and juices available throughout the ceremony and reception to prevent guests from dehydrating.

One of the most problematic aspects of an outdoor wedding is the acoustics. Guests at an outdoor wedding are often unable to hear the proceedings. Additionally, if a wedding video is made, it often is unable to pick up the words of the officiant or the couple reciting their vows. For this reason, you may wish to utilize a public address system during the ceremony to ensure that all guests are able to hear the ceremony.

If you have a lot of out of town guests who will be attending your outdoor wedding, you may want to prepare a package to mail to them detailing the weather expectations for your wedding date so that they can prepare for the trip. Although the past can be a good indication of what type of weather to expect, you might also want to consider sending your out of town guests a weather prediction update a few days prior to your wedding in case the meteorologists are predicting unseasonable weather.

Another tip for sticking to your wedding budget is to not view the budget as restrictive. If instead of thinking about the things that you can’t afford, you focus on how you can make your wedding and reception truly unique you will be inspired to create a fabulous and memorable wedding despite your budget constraints.

Still another tip for sticking to your wedding budget is to shop around and comparison shop for services. A limousine company may come highly recommended but if they are not in your price range, don’t be afraid to let them know why you are going to have to choose another company and you may be surprised at how soon they are willing to give you a different offer.

One final tip for having an outdoor wedding is to try to provide your guests with as much shade as possible. You can do this by either providing a large tent or canopy for your guests or by choosing a setting with a number of large trees and planning your wedding for a time and date that would ensure an abundance of shade in the area.

Taking a few precautions and planning wisely will ensure that your outdoor wedding is a success. It is important to make a few adjustments to your usual planning and making provisions that will keep you and your guests comfortable throughout the ceremony and the reception.
